On 10th July 1921, when monsoon compelled everybody to take shelter. A young enthusiastic man, Rustom Dinshaw Talati, gathered around him eight young boys and began teaching them the rudiments of Scouting. Thus the 8th Bombay was established, now known as - 8TH EAST BOMBAY TALATIS SCOUT GROUP. It is indeed a tribute to the leadership, enthusiasm and capacity for hard work on the part of the founder of our Group - Rustom Dinshaw Talati, that the 8th Bombay once established, never looked back, but true to its motto "Go Ahead", always forged ahead.

Within a short span of three years of our Group's existence, it suffered a shattering blow in the sad demise of the founder on 3rd December 1924. Thereafter, from 1924, the group was nurtured by Scouter Ardeshir Homavazir, who was a close associate of the founder. He continued running the Troop till 1952. The Group was extended to include Cubs and Rovers during his tenure.
From 1952, the Group came under the leadership of Dr. Naval Dordi until 1968, when he chose to migrate to Canada with his family.

Scouter Pheroze Engineer was then appointed the Group Leader in 1968 and he carried the baton for over 3 decades, leading the group with great dedication and resolve. Under his leadership, the Group progressed in leaps and bounds. His strategy and direction raised the standard of the Group, as the group became one of the most prominent and leading groups in the East Bombay District.
